Tonight Nog will be crying his eyes out, because we'll be meeting at the Pig without him. That's the Bourgeois Pig, 7:30 p.m., for any of you literary hipsters who'd care to join us. @afreshstand has even teased us with the prospect of a PBR coozie; you'll have to show up tonight to find out.
As evidenced by our December blog entries, most of us are too intimidated to write anything longer than 140 characters about Book 1 of Murakami's 1Q84. But there's been a lot of chatter over on twitter about bald heads, falling down wells, and all-night sex feasts.
If you can't make it tonight, have no fear -- we'll be meeting again soon to discuss Book 2. ... Does that mean Nog is giving us an extra month to read Book 3?
Asking for an extension, eh?? The Prof votes that we barrel through this sucker in January, but I'll bow to the group's will. Have fun tonight (no "all night sex feasts" at the Pig, you naughty readers).
ReplyDeleteActually the consensus last night was to wrap it up at the end of January with books 2 and 3. I'm fine either way, but I am anxious to discuss books 2 and 3 with y'all!
ReplyDeleteWill try to encapsulate a bit of last night's unofficial interim holiday gathering in a blog entry soon.
Wait, what was that about falling down wells?
ReplyDeleteAlso, BananaSuit showed as the 30-some-odd occurrences that "real life" showed up in 1Q84 using a search on her tablet prompted by Courtbelle's observance of its heavy usage even in the course of book 1. I would love to see a copy and paste of those search results here if someone is up for it. Hmm, or maybe actually it shouldn't be posted until the end since it would contain spoiler passages. I'd like to see the list though.
